Comparison:
. . . my idea of a marathon is more along the lines of binge-watching a whole season of ‘Emily in Paris’
It's not easy to redefine an entire stealth metaphor (e.g., “a marathon“), but here in a blog post Michelle Stolberg uses the resources of Lily Collins and Darrin Star via their work on the hit Netflix series to help all of the rest of us who may never show up at the starting line. Can you think of an occasion wherein the formulation of “my idea of a ___________“ could be used to reframe or reconsider a standard cultural idiom? Bet you could, even without a remote.
Context:
I may never run like Hellen [Obiri] (let’s be honest, my idea of a marathon is more along the lines of binge-watching a whole season of ‘Emily in Paris’), but I’m starting to think that getting my hand—or rather, feet—-on a pair may be the next best thing. If they can handle Hellen’s powerful stride, I’m convinced they can add a touch of magic to my neighborhood jogs, too.
